The Visual Designer will focus on concepting and creating visually engaging, branded, and functional digital assets for NSTO’s Need Supply Co. and Totokaelo marketing and merchandising functions.  This role will also work closely with NSTO’s UX and Development teams to create and test new ecommerce experiences.  The ideal candidate can execute compelling, production ready visual designs, but also has a growing interest in user behavior and interaction design.   

A bridge between the creative and ecommerce teams, the visual designer will collaborate well with others, take constructive feedback, and stay cool while multi-tasking in the face of looming deadlines. The ideal candidate should also possess a genuine curiosity regarding design and communication trends and stay abreast of competitive developments within the e-commerce/fashion/retail community. 


  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, and site merchandising to develop marketing and merchandising assets for promotional, seasonal, and/or ad-hoc campaigns:  
  • Brainstorm and execute clear ideas, concepts, and designs from inception to production 
  • Establish the look, feel, and size for various digital asset campaigns both on-site (web, touch, mobile) and off-site (social, affiliate, paid search, remarketing, etc.) 
  • Work within brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce the Need Supply Co. and/or Totokaelo brand style and voice through its visual touchpoints 
  • Create designs that are visually enticing, easy to use, and emotionally engaging 
  • Work collaboratively with other designers, copywriters, and developers to ensure a consistent, integrated brand perception and user experience  
  • Collaborate with UX to take basic wireframes, concepts, and prototypes from low to high fidelity   
  • In addition to standard asset types, design logos, icons, illustrations, infographics, and data visualizations 
  • Stay in the loop and on top of the latest standards, changes, trends in visual design field  


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design, Graphic Design, or something similar 
  • Impeccable typography and graphic design skills 
  • Understanding of how to design for digital experiences across device types (e.g., web, touch, mobile) 
  • Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, while executing multiple projects at a time, in various phases, and under tight deadlines 
  • Strong project planning and organizational skills; Excellent time-management skills 
  • Willingness to identify inefficiencies with current state processes and offer up solutions to improve them.  
  • Post-production proficiency 
  • Experience concepting, developing, and executing campaigns for Advertising or Marketing purposes preferred 
  • Copywriting skills preferred 
  • Ability to assess the good from the bad preferred
